Reproductive Health Literacy Training (RHLT) Toolkit Guide

Introduction: This toolkit is designed to help facilitators deliver the Reproductive Health
Literacy Training (RHLT) either as part of a broader program or as a standalone
session. It provides step-by-step guidance and resources that support culturally
responsive and accessible health education for refugee and immigrant communities.

Facilitator Guidance: The following resources are included to help facilitators
understand how to effectively use the materials in group education settings:

These tools are intended to support both new and experienced facilitators in planning,
delivering, and adapting sessions based on audience needs.

How RHLT Has Been Offered:

Our Reproductive Health Literacy Trainings (RHLT) have been offered in three different modes tailored to the topic and audience needs. Trainings were offered virtually or in-person. If possible, a bilingual, bicultural facilitator lead the sessions or facilitators showed the recorded videos and audio of the interactive cervical cancer tool in the participants’ language and lead the question and answer sections with the help of an interpreter.
1. RHLT has been integrated into cultural orientation programs to support newcomers with essential reproductive health knowledge as part of their broader adjustment and learning experience. Wherever possible, women chose the topics and discussion priorities.
2. The RHLT topics can be offered as standalone sessions (eg. on menopause or cervical cancer education) at community outreach events or on virtual platforms to address specific concerns in a focused way.
3. The ReproNet team combined the three most requested sessions into a RHLT series, and offered the series in Dari, Pashto or Arabic at libraries. The pre- and post-assessment showed that RHLT are accepted and well attended and that participants improved in general, digital, and reproductive health literacy
